Academic Senate Reminders
If you have items for the Senate Agenda, please send them to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) two Thursdays (12 days typically) prior to Senate. This is the day that I send Senate Executive the materials for senate consideration. Exec meets on the Tuesday preceding our senate meeting to set the Senate Agenda. Therefore:
If you have items for consideration at our April 14th meeting, you will need to send me those items by April 2nd at 10am.
Agenda Overview and Links to Materials
In addition to our regular reports, during the Senate Chair report a brief presentation will be made updating senate on the progress and projected timeline for the Senate Structure Task Force.
There are two "Continuing Business" items--one, the Arts Management Minor from Curriculum and a Policy on Assigned Time for Student Service from Senate Executive. The later is a policy that is a result from our recent Collective Bargaining Agreement that gives CI 9WTU a year through the 2016-17 Academic Year for exceptional service to students. The policy details the CBA elements as well as projected award timelines and criteria. All faculty are eligible for this award.
We have a full agenda of New Business items. Senate Exec is putting forth a resolution in support of ASCSU's call for a comprehensive policy on Academic Freedom. The resolution and the referenced policy can be found at the link above. From Curriculum and Academic Planning is the Biology Pest Control Adviser Certification Program, and the Policy for On-Line Teaching and Learning is also presented as a first reading item.
Please note that "Intent to Raise Questions" has moved down the agenda to after "New Business" as an attempt to prioritize our business and informational items. This seems to have worked well and been well received by those in attendance.
