Academic Senate Reminders
If you have items for the Senate Agenda, please send them to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) two Thursdays (12 days typically) prior to Senate. This is the day that I send Senate Executive the materials for senate consideration. Exec meets on the Tuesday preceding our senate meeting to set the Senate Agenda. For example:
If you have items for consideration at our February 24th meeting, you will need to send me those items by February 12th at noon.
If you cannot attend Academic Senate during Spring 2015 semester, please consider "opting out" so our quorum number can be reduced and we can start our meetings on time. However, if you have a regular teaching conflict which will mean arriving late but you still plan on attending Senate, opting out is not necessary or recommended. By opting out you do give up your vote for the semester.
Agenda Overview and Links to Materials
In addition to our regular reports, we have two guest reports at our first meeting of the semester. Our first time certain report is from Debbi Gravelle, Assistant to the Dean of Students and Bill Kupfer, Director of Environmental Health Safety & Risk Management, who will be updating us on the measles situation at CI. Additionally, later in our meeting, John Gormley, Director of Planning, Design, and Construction,
will give a report on where we’re at with Sierra Hall, Student Housing Phase 3/Dining Commons Expansion, future phases of student housing, the exterior way-finding master planning effort, and a brief update on CI's Physical Master Plan that was recently presented to the Board of Trustees.
We have three items in "Continuing Business" including two minors (SP 14-07 Visual Media Communication & SP 14-08 Security Systems Engineering) and SP14-09 an updated Policy on Disqualification from Student Academic Policies and Procedures. These are all items we will be voting on as second readings.
There is one "New Business" item--Global Premodern Studies (GPS) Minor from the Curriculum Committee.
Please note that "Intent to Raise Questions" has moved down the agenda to after "New Business" as an attempt to prioritize our business and informational items.
